Systemic Racism and the American Dream

Close the Gap

Choosing to prioritize tax investment in Center City left a lack of investment in predominantly African American neighborhoods for generations. Neighbors have less family wealth and are more recession sensitive.

Economic development subsidies increase profit for those with wealth. Out stadium-styled financing closes the income and wealth gap.

Buying It Back: Level the playing field.

Fix “it” so we profit the bottom of the Ladder the way we currently profit the top. It’s not profitable or it would be done by now. Profit families over commercial developers and real estate owners.

The Solution

There is no reason to believe that bureaucrats and politicians, no matter how well meaning, are better at solving problems than the people on the spot, who have the strongest incentive to get the solution right.
— Prof. Elinor Ostrom, 2009 Nobel Prize in Economics

The Project

Let’s invest in previously redlined and low income neighborhoods to create a community-owned small business accelerator and wellness center. This silent investment supports neighbors as they create community, curb their own gentrification and maintain the character of their neighborhood in the future.

The Investment

For $10 and one email from community leader each month, registered voters can fix this. If we invest the resources we already have where they’re needed most, we’ll permanently reduce the need for services over time.

25 years ago, NFL fans invested in a stadium for the Carolina Panthers with Private Seat Licenses (“PSL”). Let’s create a new kind of PSL. Let’s Put up, Shut up, and Listen.
