The Problem?

A law creates special tax. A tax creates a system that assumes we have the same needs now that we had when it was passed decades ago. Charlotte taxpayers subsidize the region. Economic development incentives make taxpayers a bank. It causes income disparity. The data ranking Charlotte worst of 50 largest cities in Upward Mobility illustrated the long run impact of the practice. The system missed that it was the cause.

That’s right, Dude. You’re both Lebowskis.

That’s right, Dude. You’re both Lebowskis.

Charlotte is the most extreme example in economic terms. Foundations amassed wealth and set public policy rallying voters around causes. Political parties convinced voters they are more than infrastructure and represent policy. Candidates select party by checking a box. Endorsements are power and remove transparency. Privilege isn’t about “stuff.” It’s the freedom to let someone else understand the money.

Economic Development brings skepticism from voters of both parties, And yet it gains bipartisan support from elected officials. This is the one place we all agree.

Imagine if there was a way to get everyone in the room at the same time to work toward the same goal. It takes Teamwork.

We all win or we all lose.

You’re right.

  1. Find your label. Read a couple graphics.

  2. As soon as you say “YES! That’s it!” go to the Project. (Go. We’ll come back to the rest.)

  3. The Project takes care of it, right? Great. Pledge. Recruit some friends and family. It’s not politics or religion.

  4. With one hour each month, you’ll learn to replace “yeah-but” with “and.”

  5. Welcome to The Middle. (Don’t panic. You’ll see.)
